Find the Real World ~ Bexar Update

March of this year I posted the following with a favorite Rumi poem:

Find the real world, give it endlessly away
Grow rich, fling gold to all who ask
Live at the empty heart of Paradox
I’ll dance there with you, cheek to cheek
Your Dawn in me I’m drunk, stammering
A thousand thousand words go dark
Lightnings are dark to us to this:
Identity’s boundless worlds-wide blaze. Why Rumi?

The pic is a photograph of a sculpture made from circuit boards, glue, and paint titled “Lofty” by Bexar Oliver.  My husband and I have commissioned Bexar to do a small sculpture for us –we choose what old electronics to give him and he creates an integrated piece  –cool!

!! UPDATE !!

Bexar’s work, “Lofty” pictured here, has been selected as one of three Houston Arts Month Finalists!! The winner of the Houston Arts Month contest will be featured on the cover of the Official Houston Visitors Guide and a regional newspaper insert distributed to 1 million households.

You can vote for Bexar to win by clicking the link below. Be sure and hit the submit button!!

(You can see the sculpture Bexar did for my husband and I in my Facebook page notes –it really is amazing)

The Living Doubleness ~ Rumi

Originally uploaded by Contemplater

I ask my heart, Why do you keep looking
for the delights of love?

I hear the answer back, Why will you not
join me in this companionship?

This is the conversation of being
a human being, the living doubleness.

Cool and in motion like water,
placed and passionate like fire.

Subtle as wind, yet obvious
as a wineglass poured to the brim,
spilled over and drunk down
all at once for a toast.

Like rain, you make any image
more vivid. Like a mirror,
you can be trusted to hold beauty.

There are mean people who see only
meanness reflected in you,
but they are wrong.

You are pure soul
and made of ground.

You are eyeshadow,
and the kindness in eyelight.

A ruby from no telling which mine,
let yourself be set in a seal ring.

Lift the sword-discernment
that rules a thousand compassions.

Shams in the lovely shape of Shams,
spring source of invisible meaning.

At the Twilight ~ Rumi

Originally uploaded by Kcline78

At the twilight, a moon appeared in the sky;
Then it landed on earth to look at me.

Like a hawk stealing a bird at the time of prey;
That moon stole me and rushed back into the sky.

I looked at myself, I did not see me anymore;
For in that moon, my body turned as fine as soul.

The nine spheres disappeared in that moon;
The ship of my existence drowned in that sea.

~~~Excerpt from wonderful post about Rumi from Soul Lab:
Did you know that Sufi mystical poet Rumi (born in 1207) has been the best-selling poet in the U.S. for the last ten years? Born in the area now known as Afghanistan, he is well known for founding the Mevlevi Order, better known as the Whirling Dervishes of Sufism. His poetry remains extraordinarily relevant, communicating a powerful emphasis on the potential of human love and consciousness………..If you are a fan, Four Seasons Productions has produced a series of stunning videos highlighting space and the natural world, along with music as the backdrop to Rumi’s poetry. Here is “Only Breath”:
I Ask One More Thing ~ Rumi
Today pour the full cup.
Slap the wheel already spinning
so frantically.
This wine is invisible,
yes, but the effect is not.
I ask one more thing
from the love that has given us
this dear time together.
Lift the veil
from the face of the king.
Why open a rosewater shop
and keep the garden secret?
You have set the river flowing,
Now release the ducklings.
We are the first double-leaf sprout
two inches out of the ground.
We need rain, or we may not grow
more than this. Cynics on all sides say,
You look for what does not exist,
and saying that,
they steal laughter from the fool
and music from the lute player.
I want these words to stop.
Calm the chattering mind, my soul.
No more camel’s milk.
I want silent water to drink
and the majesty of clear waking.
