3 Energy Clearing Tips for the New Year

I recently had the opportunity to facilitate an Energy Patch Ceremony (EPC) with a client (an hour-long ceremony based on James Endredy’s work, found in his book Beyond 2012).

Fundamentally, the EPC is about creating an energy patch for everything that drains you and/or takes away your attention. The energy patch allows you to focus on the business at hand, while at the same time organizes you towards eliminating energy drains in perfect timing on the physical plane.

The New Year represents not only a time to embrace our ideals and aspirations for the future, it is a time to let go of old energies which may be lingering to make way for the new. The start of a New Year presents an opportunity to turn our attention to the energetic remnants lingering from the past for a fresh start of the new year.

The following 3 tips (excerpted from Christan Hummel’s best-selling book, the Do It Yourself Space Clearing Kit) will empower you to sweep out the old and make way for the new:

1.  Ceremony : Ceremony is a time when we honor life, the seasons, and those aspects of living beyond the physical. It brings us in touch with the worlds beyond our everyday, and reminds us of a vastness of Life beyond our immediate attention. Make time for ceremony in your life and you will open a doorway into another dimension beyond this one allowing fresh new ideas, inspiration and energies to flow into your business.

It could be a simple ceremony like a ribbon-cutting ceremony to initiate new energies, or popping of the champagne cork to signify the bringing in of the New Year. Whatever the ceremony, when you do it with intention and awareness that ceremony heralds in the energies of your intention in a much more profound manner than when we simply and perfunctorily perform the same act.

2.  Consciousness : Where we put our consciousness, we put our life energy. Find the aspects of your business where you have vacated your consciousness; those “dead zones” that you pretend are not there, or wish weren’t. For some people it could be tax returns that are not completed, old business relationships that went sour and have remaining bitterness, or simply letting go of worrying. Put your consciousness into that energy, with intention, and yes, even ceremony, and notice the MAGIC that happens when you do! Energy flows where attention goes!

3.  Cycles : There is a rhythm to Life, a time for growth, and a time for death. Cycles are important to observe: moon cycles are often used for planting, cutting hair, beginning new projects. Similarly, observing the cycles of the sun of day and night, being more active during the daylight hours, and winding down in the evening when there is less energy available. As well there are the larger seasonal cycles, solstices, equinoxes, and the times in between them (what the Celts called the cross quarter days.) When we are in tune with and align consciously with these cycles of nature, the rhythm of Life, we find more harmony and balance in our lives.

The season of Winter is a natural time to go inside–hibernate in the cave like the bear–reflect, pull our energies inwards, a kind of death to the old, so that we can go forward in the Spring with new energy and enthusiasm unencumbered by the past. Then, beginning on Feb. 1st (Ground Hog’s Day) we enter the cycle between the Winter Equinox and the Spring Equinox, a time traditionally honored by the Celts as the time to plant the seed of the new idea so that it may sprout in the Spring. When we follow these cycles, we harness the Life energy of the planet begin to dance to the same beat of Life. So by paying attention to the cycles of Life, we begin to work with them to receive the gift of their energy.

As these tips demonstrate, we can dramatically clear and shift our energies; providing sanctuary to reflect our highest intentions and dreams (read all 6 Feng Shui Space Clearing Tips).

We are all Shamans Sharing Sacred Space

In order to heal, Shamans routinely permeate boundaries; boundaries of mind and body, boundaries of consciousness and sub-consciousness, boundaries of space and time, boundaries between people and circumstances, between humans and nature, and between matter and spirit. Lifting the veil of boundaries (filters) is not always pleasant and can be disturbing, but ultimately Shamans show us that what we experience as our separate self is illusionary – they teach us to give birth to a truer sense of who we are and to recognize our connection to all things.

On the world stage, we are going through a collective shamanic healing process, a genuine death/rebirth experience. As Paul Levy, writes “our species and its civilization are currently in the throes of a collective nervous breakdown. If what we as a species, are doing to ourselves (destroying the biosphere, the very life-support system of the planet, to use one example) isn’t collective madness, then what in the world is? Our underlying institutionalized and incorporated structures that are helping to keep us asleep are breaking down and coming apart. The false, illusory separate self, which experiences ourselves as alien from one another is dying as is the fundamental framework by which we relate to each other and the world. As we recreate ourselves we awaken to our deep interconnection and interdependence with each other and all living beings.”

Interconnection and interdependence awakening are transcendent boundary breakers. Recreating ourselves and redesigning frameworks from this expanded space is incredibly exciting…..and challenging. Relying on our innate Shamanic abilities such as listening and touching deeply, exchanging healing energies, and relying on intuition will assist us in meeting the challenge. As our awakening evolves, we become aware of a curious familiarity with ancient practices ……and come to recognize that we are all Shamans sharing sacred boundless space.

Courageous Dreaming

spiral

We are what we think.
Everything we are arises from our thoughts.
With our thinking we create the world.

–Buddha

If the world is what we think it is, then we all have the power to dream our world into being.  As Alberto Vill0ldo writes in his book Courageous Dreaming – How Shaman’s Dream the World into Being, “…when…you awaken to your power to dream, you begin to flex the muscles of your courage. Then you can dream bravely: letting go of your limiting beliefs and pushing past your fears. You can begin to create truly original dreams that germinate in your soul and bear fruit in your life.”   OK great..this is very inspiring and spiritual AND as Raain Wilson says, “I am sick of spirituality being airy-fairy, hippy-dippy, and precious.”  I personally like some of the airy-fairy, hippy-dip stuff…but my job is to take spiritual principles and express them in the linear form of business.

In business there are usually some goals and some type of plan.  It may all be in your head, or you may have an elaborate plan with detailed goals on special software on your business computer, but there is an end-point, a vision of the future..a DREAM you are bringing into being.  Ready? Now, assume that your initial plan is NOT your Courageous Dream (CD)…..this is the seed of your CD, but not your CD.  Your CD germinates in your soul when you get into action and get slammed a few times, when you review your motives, when you have exposed every (OK probably not every) excruciating limiting belief and fear that you have. The key is to adjust your plan as you go….flow with the go…it will be ready to bear fruit much quicker that way.  How precious.

Shamanism: Its all about Connection

Update: 6/28/11 : Look for new website coming soon strategystream.com

I met the blogger of Soul Lab, Jennifer Hill Robenault, at the Writer’s Conference in Austin a few weeks ago…I told her about my book, Shaman’s Guide to Business (now Love’s Guide to Business) and her response was “What is up with all the Shamans?” She proceeded to tell me that in two days she was going to go to her first session with a Shaman. When I talked to her later that week she told me it was “life changing.”   Now Jennifer and I are working together….my husband and I are meeting the Shamanic Practitoner, Gerry Starns, next week!  Its all about connection………..

I come from “beginners mind” when it comes to Shamanism and view it as a powerful context from which to talk about connectiveness. Following is an excerpt from the Q & A session with Gerry I particularly resonated with:

SL: You essentially help people reconnect to the spiritual in everyday life. How do people’s lives change as a result of your work?

GS: I believe that if we can infuse our everyday life and experience with spirit, we will naturally become more whole and more connected with that huge context that we call Nature. If we can stop compartmentalizing family from work, from spiritual practice, from parenting, from play, and so on, we will become stronger and feel more fulfilled moment by moment.   To read the entire Soul Lab Interview…….
