When we look around in the world today, everyone seems to be experiencing ever more escalating amounts of stress on a daily basis–from disgruntled airline passengers fighting over a few inches of legroom and reclining seat issues, to emotionally draining exclamations of impending doom by the media, to the egregious stress of war and fighting. Whether we are consciously aware of it or try to downplay the amount of stress we experience, stress is a seemingly normal part of life.

In addition, we all know that we live in a visual world. This is a powerful realization that advertisers, news outlets and individuals of media-driven markets have long ago internalized. On a purely physical level, we are drawn to messages and imagery that trigger an adrenaline boost; e.g. fear- and panic-inducing key words and visuals that prompt us to react with a “fight-or-flight” response, which is a form of highly “effective” stress.

When we are stressed or afraid, the hypothalamus is activated and sends signals to the adrenal glands via the sympathetic nervous system to flood the body with adrenaline, cortisol and DHEA. These hormones, in turn, cause the heartbeat to quicken, respiration increases, pupils dilate and every muscle slightly contracts. In short, the body produces extra energy to deal with whatever potential challenge we might be facing.

This “fight or flight” response is a psychogenetic, historic imprint that conjures the energy necessary to either “fight” or “flee”. If you were suddenly being attacked by a a large animal, you would have felt a surge of excitement to either fight harder than you’ve ever fought before or to run faster than you had ever run before. In today’s world, if a large truck came speeding towards you, you would have the same response. This energy of “excitement” can create “hysterical strength” in cases of extreme duress, e.g. I’m sure you’ve all heard of the seemingly impossible feats of a woman lifting a car to free her entrapped child or the, at times, superhuman accomplishments of professional athletes. These examples are a testament to what the human body is capable of under the influence of adrenaline and when the extra energy that stress/fear creates is being used.

This goes to show that our bodies are actually quite well equipped in dealing with “regular” stress. Once our bodies have adapted to or have dealt with the unusual or threatening circumstances that triggered the adrenaline production, the body calms down again and the adrenaline is being metabolized.

Problems often arise from many of the chronic mental stressors that we are exposed to. E.g. worrying about financial issues and uncertainty, being afraid of losing one’s job, family issues pulling us in a million different directions, etc. The problem with this form of mental stress is that there is no obvious course of action available (like running away or fighting the tiger that’s attacking you), thus the extra energy that the body created to “fight or flight” becomes stagnant and causes contraction, while leaving the adrenal glands in a continuous cycle of over production. This chronic “jolt” very quickly becomes a poison causing a myriad of physical problems ranging from high blood pressure, headaches, weight gain, insomnia, depression, addiction issues, autoimmune diseases and allergies, among other issues.

Fortunately there are quite a few, very effective ways to not only manage but also reduce stress levels.

1. Meditation – “Exercising your inner muscles”

Sending color to your adrenal glands

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes and take a deep breath into your body. Imagine drawing white light from the cosmos down through the top of your head and let it fill your body. Then, begin to radiate the white light out through your solar plexus, out through the ceiling and into the sky. Keep radiating this white light, noticing how it creates a “blank/clean slate” in your body and how it expands the auric field while activating all of your senses.

Now, rub your hands together to create heat and energy. When you feel a buzzing or palpable energy in your hands, place them on your lower back (above the pelvic bone), more specifically, on your kidneys and adrenal glands (your adrenal glands are situated on top of the kidneys). Feel how the warmth of your hands nourishes and replenishes your kidneys and adrenals.

Bring your consciousness into your adrenal glands, now. As you tune into your adrenal glands, ask them what color they need to be balanced and to function perfectly. (If you are stressed, you can specifically ask your adrenal glands what color they need to produce the perfect amount of adrenaline/cortisol to deal with the given situation.) Take the first color that comes to mind and imagine that you draw that frequency from the cosmos directly into your adrenal glands. Keep filling your adrenals with that color until they feel balanced to you.

Bonus: In a stressful situation, imagine/envision a solution.
If you are stressed about financial worries, imagine having all the money you need.
Health related issues: visualize healing or a healthy body. Conflicts/arguments: concentrate on a peaceful solution.
Relationships: focus on something you love/appreciate about that person/the people you are having problems with.

When ever you feel ready, take another deep breath and open your eyes again.

2. Breathing and Being Present

Deep breathing counteracts the effects of stress by lowering blood pressure and slowing down the heart rate. Try this:

Sit comfortably, close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply into your body. On each inhale, count to 3 or 5 (depending on lung capacity and what you feel most comfortable with), hold your breath for 3 to 5 counts and then exhale using that same 3-5 count pattern. Continue for a few minutes until you feel a sense of calm and nourishment.

You have to be present when you focus on your breath, as your breath draws your attention inward. When you feel the space that you’ve created for yourself in this present moment, take a moment to perceive your surroundings; e.g. notice how the air feels on your skin, if you are outside, or enjoy the texture and taste of each bite of food. The applications are really limitless. You’ll be surprised by how many things you don’t notice on a daily basis because you are too stressed or busy to pay attention to them.

3. Exercise

Physical exercise is a wonderful way to release and utilize all of those stuck energies created through fear or stress. When you work out or participate in a Yoga class, the physicality of the tasks at hand demand your presence. When you use the energy of fear and stress, it will ultimately liberate you. Exercise also has the added benefit of releasing endorphins into the brain, which improves your mood.

4. Sleep and B Vitamins

Sleep is probably the most important stress reducer. So when you are stressed, do whatever works for you to get a good night’s sleep.
B Vitamins are typically found in eggs, dairy products, beans, peas, nuts, liver and in the bran of cereal grains and help induce relaxation, support the brain and nervous system as well as help fight fatigue.

Of course, eating healthy, limiting cell phone and internet use, getting a massage or acupuncture treatment, or using essential oils are all great stress-reducing factors as well.

Choose any of the above methods when you feel stressed. Especially sending light to your adrenal glands can be used as an effective precaution and a way to set the tone for a peaceful day.

Seeds of abundance & unlocking encodements

Abundance is the true nature of the Universe.. and universal love is the true currency.. yet most of the planet is living in an artificially constructed grid of scarcity, greed, and fear and the wars, crime, and violence that lower chakra.. survival.. consciousness engenders.
These energies are subsequently carried through the grid lines, or the meridians of the planet.
By shifting the energies of this planetary grid matrix and unlocking embedded encodements planted long ago, the consciousness reflected in it is also shifted, allowing for new possibilities to emerge, ones more consistent with the higher realms which the Earth is entering into right now. When humanity is able to shift from the solar plexus orientation of I, me, mine, to the heart chakra orientation where universal love is the currency that flows between us, then the new economic models will be able to emerge on the planet.
This is a key time on the planet for new economic perspectives to flourish.

To do so, there needs to be a fertile space to receive the wisdom from encodements to expand into and seed new and revolutionary ideas. Commune with Your Customers

When you deliver a product or service, you are participating in a shared reality that exists between you and your customers. There is an intimate agreement about the shared reality.  There is trust and communication about the mutual benefits of your interchange.

This is communion; a sharing of spirit.

Within the space of communion, there is a natural evolution that is set in motion. It is a given that this evolution is a growth process for both you and your customers. Consider approaching the development and delivery of your products and services with a conscious commitment to evoke evolution and transformation.

Any evolution is a process; a growth pattern. You set the evolution in motion by fulfilling a specific need or desire for your customer. From that point forward, you are in a unique position to evoke evolution. When you evoke, you go beyond simply participating in the reality between you and your customer, to deeply influencing (impressing) upon the reality.

In order to evoke vs. participate, add an element to each and every one of your products & services that meets not only the immediate desire of your customer, but a “higher desire” as well.  Always reflect back to your customer a vision of their highest self.

Using Apple as an example, if you are selling “M” laptops (aka Macs), delivering with the clear message that your customer has everything to do with why this laptop is so fantastic, meets a higher-desire recognition that “M” laptop users are smart and savvy. When your “M” laptop customer configures their laptop, invite them to join an on-line community of smart and savvy “M” laptop users. These higher desire attributes impress upon the growth pattern of evolution –deepening the relationship with your customer, as well as evoking qualities of co-creation, self-esteem and community.

Think of your products & services as an invitation to an intimate interchange with your customer vs. an exchange –this is the access to communion. An interchange is spirit-to-spirit vs. an ego-to-ego exchange.

If you choose to hold and maintain the interchange of communion with sacred gloves, you impress upon the evolution implicit in communion. Expand your view

In all of your business endeavors, always remember your physical set of eyes, as well as your spiritual set of eyes.

With your physical eyes you see the material world and act accordingly, based on what you see. Typically, this is the set of eyes we use when we plan and take actions in our businesses.

But, as we all know, there is more to life than the material world.

With your spiritual eyes, you can see beyond appearances. Instead of allowing appearances to determine what you think is real and reacting to it, you can decide what is beyond the appearance and calmly continue to invoke what you choose. This practice permits the real you to come forth.

Every time you choose to act from a balanced perspective of both material and spiritual, every time you invoke rather than react, every time you choose love over fear –you get closer and closer to the real you and the real world. By doing so, you cause a change in what you see.

As you align more and more with the real you and the real world, this higher reality will permeate and expand all aspects of your business,

and your life.

Hip-Hop, Yoga, and Being Super Rich

Think of the “godfather of hip-hop” Russell Simmons and you definitely think RICH. He founded the music label Def Jam as well as clothing lines such as Phat Farm and American Classics. With a net worth estimate of $340 million, he is the third richest figure in hip-hop, only behind artists Diddy and Jay-Z. But do you also think of yoga and spirituality when you think of Russell Simmons?

Simmons is the author (along with Chris Morrow) of Super Rich: A Guide to Having it All. His business website www.rushcommunications.com relates his many business successes, which “have spanned music, film, television, fashion, video games, online and financial services” and his activism, which “has encompassed all of the areas touched by his businesses, including poverty, education, social justice and inclusion.”

It’s easy to daydream about being incredibly rich, but Simmons is more than just about having a lot of money. He grew up in a lower-middle class African-American community in Queens and recently was named one of the 25 most influential people of the last 25 years by USA Today. He has two beautiful daughters he adores (and a beautiful, well-known, and accomplished ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons). Not only does he practice yoga, meditation, and philanthropy, he also eats no meat. He believes that there is a connection between his spiritual practices and his worldly success.

The title of his book Super Rich might make you think it’s all about accumulating money, but to Simmons that term means “the state of needing nothing.” That’s powerful! THE STATE OF NEEDING NOTHING. Imagine being in that state. Surely, you’d feel super rich. But how do you achieve that state? Simmons says that we have to “clear out the clutter and quiet the noise” that keeps us from “hearing” or connecting with the happiness…or the richness…that is already inside of us.

He says that we attract the world to us by giving until the world can’t live without what you have to offer. Huh? To get rich, you just give away what you have? YES! He quotes yogis: “You never lose what you have given” and says that if you “just show the world a fraction of the sweetness and honesty that’s in your heart, it’s going to come running after you.”

What else can you do to attain the STATE OF NEEDING NOTHING?

  • Access stillness…that “quiet, peaceful mental state that allows you to be completely present in life.” Then you can become “totally connected with the inspiration and imagination that’s inside [you].”
  • “Stay focused on your work without any expectations for, or concern with, the fruit of your labor” and “operate out of a zone of pure focus and clarity” like Michael Jordan did on the basketball court.
  • Be a business yogi and “only do shit you believe in. Period!” Vegan Simmons, for example, says he would never invest in a restaurant that serves meat. If you are a yogi, you won’t do work that creates instability or suffering in the world. Let go of the results…and watch what happens!
  • “Be reborn every day.” Simmons went from being a drug dealer to a mega-rich businessman, yogi, author (he previously penned the New York Times best seller Do You!: 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success), and humanitarian. How did he do that? He “began moving away from [his] unconscious state and toward enlightenment.” He says it is important to “get open”…to be fluid and creative and never rigid.
  • Build bridges…with people of other races, religions, beliefs, etc…that will bring people together. Recognize that we are all connected.
  • Practice and realize the power of acceptance and love of others and what is.
  • Enjoy and be grateful for the material things, but don’t become burdened by or attached to what you have. Instead, achieve balance in life.
  • “Make a real commitment to being conscious and compassionate.”  He quotes the story of theBhagavad Gita and Arjuna’s final words to Lord Krishna: “Through your kind conversation, I’ve woken up and am conscious of who I really am.” Simmons says that even if you fall short in all the above things, if you are conscious and compassionate, you will…like Arjuna…become more awake, which is “central to all your success.”

Simmons says that, armed with the knowledge in the book, we can be like Arjuna and:

To fight not for what you can get for yourself, but what you can give to others.

To fight not for your own abundance, but for the abundance of others.

To fight not for your own security, but for the peace and safety of others.

To fight not for your own joy, but for the happiness of others.

To fight not for your own upliftment, but for the enlightenment of others.

Russell Simmons, hip-hop, fashion, and multi-business mogul, yogi, father, UN Goodwill Ambassador, vegan, and philanthropist, ends the book by saying:

When you are devoted to fighting for these things with a smile on your face and love radiating out of your heart, then all these things will be yours. You will have it all. You will be Super Rich.

How refreshing to see someone who truly is super rich in every way practice what he says. Thanks, Russell Simmons.

Unconditionally Delight Your Customers

If you’ve ever actually seen a naturally sourced spring, you know exactly how magical it is. Water simply bubbles up out of the earth; there’s no drilling and no need to extract or purify it. It’s a free gift from nature. The spring burbles along regardless of whether anyone is there to drink from it. It’s a profound metaphor for unconditional love, which is why it’s a perfect way to describe the kind of relationship you want to have with your customers.

In simpler times (and in some parts of the world, even today), civilizations only sprang up in areas where there was fresh running water. A spring was a source of life, and people wanted to crowd around that source.

If you become a source of great joy, delight, and necessity to your customers, they will want to spend as much time as possible near you. You give them something that makes them feel good, powerful, and alive. That’s a powerful gift and they will reward you with intense loyalty.

You create loyalty between yourself and your customers by giving them something that makes them feel good. You create infatuated loyalty when you unconditionally give them something beyond what they expected.

If you provide a product, make sure the product has an element that brings them some benefit they can’t get anywhere else. If you offer a service, make sure that service makes them feel nurtured and attended to in a way they don’t want to live without. By giving them a never-ending source of gratification, you create a bond with your customers.

Learn to give unconditionally and your customers will never waver from your side.

Shift Your Business Perspective
