It Happens All the Time in Heaven ~ Hafiz

It happens all the time in heaven,
And some day
It will begin to happen
Again on earth —
That men and women who are married,
And men and men who are
Lovers,
And women and women
Who give each other
Light,
Often will get down on their knees
And while so tenderly
Holding their lover’s hand,
With tears in their eyes,
Will sincerely speak, saying
“My dear,
How can I be more loving to you,
How can I be more kind?”

Disciplines ~ Rumi

The heart

Do not expect to be always happy on this way.
You have been caught by a lion, my dear.

The friend dumps plaster on your head.
Think of it as expensive perfume.

Inside you there is a monster
that must be tied up and whipped.

Watch the man beating a rug.
He is not mad at it.
He wants to loosen the layers of dirt.

Ego accumulations are not loosened
with one swat. Continual work
is necessary, disciplines.

In dreams, and even awake,
you will hear the beloved screaming at you.

A carpenter saws and chisels a piece of wood,
because he knows how he wants to use it.

Curing a hide, the tanner
rubs in acid and all manner of filth.
This makes a beautiful soft leather.

What does the half-finished hide know?
Every hard thing that happens
works on you like that.

Hurry. Come back
like the sun comes back
every day with new and powerful secrets.

Face Your Brilliant Creation

We are ourselves creations, and we in turn are meant to design new creations ~Julia Cameron

You must fall in love with yourself, warts and all, if you are going to have anyone else fall in love with what you are creating and offering. Part of falling in love with yourself is understanding and accepting that you are a brilliant center of powerful creation.

Because you are a center of powerful creation, you must also be willing to face the responsibility of your creations. As your business expands and grows, the Core Ideology (mission, vision, and values) ensures that business actions and transactions are in integrity with your original intention. The Core Ideology is, consciously and in co-creation with spirit, determined by you.

The main thrust of core ideology is that it is enduring. Ultimately, Core Ideology provides “higher thinking” and guide posts from which to make decisions ~like a beacon reminding you of what you and your company are all about when things are moving really fast, as well as when things seem dark or confusing. The core remains intact regardless of circumstances (very much like spiritual principles that endure over time, resonate when we hear them, and bring us back to center).  A powerful core ideology will speak to anyone who hears it and supersedes individual personalities.

With your business, you are creating a garden for Divine Source to visit and co-grow. The Core Ideology is the marker, the framework, the boundaries of your particular garden. It states and anchors in that in THIS garden, each and every flower (transaction) will have THIS particular seed of your expression within it. The Ideology trains you to be in the now of the day-to-day business of your business; by trusting the garden you are in — you are free to express joyfully and move into your brilliant power and creation more and more.

They Call to You to Sing ~ Hafiz

We share our tools and instruments and plates;
We are companions on this earth

As the sun and planets are in the sky.
We are all sentries at our sacred humble posts.

The stones and stars envy the movements
Of your legs and tongue
And call to you to sing on their behalf.

The atoms in your cells and limbs are full of wonderful talents;
They dance in the Hidden Choir Spirit conducts.

This love you now have of the Truth
Will never forsake you.

Your joys and sufferings on this arduous path
Are lifting your worn veil like a rising stage curtain

And will surely reveal your Magnificent Self
So that you can guide this world like Spirit

In the Hidden choir
Spirit and his friends will forever
Conduct.

Lean your graceful plan towards spirit

Look what can happen when you lean your graceful plan towards spirit, look at all that amorous light you can catch which will illuminate your customers and loose your soul.

Imagine your business as a garden that Spirit steps into. When you plant the seeds, whether it is the germination of an idea or the strategic evolution of an existing business, Spirit is immediately with you enjoying your creation.  Lean your graceful plan towards Spirit and watch the light on your garden increase and sparkle.

The most important reason to create or evolve a business plan is to design a tangible framework in which you are free to co-create with spirit.  Between your eye and your plan Spirit stands waiting.

5 reasons to have a Business Plan:

1 – To design a tangible framework in which you invite spirit to co-create with you.

2 – To encourage you to ask yourself and others the right questions –right questions include hard questions.

3 – To serve as a guide for the lifetime of your business by providing guideposts and tools to analyze growth, as well as exit points.

4 – To communicate to others who may want to participate with you (as investors, lenders, partners, etc.) what your business is about and where it is going.

5 – To allow you to be in the “now” of the day-to-day tending of the business of your business.

Whether your plan is 5 hand-written pages or a leather bound 100 page document, without it your business can be rudderless and invisible in terms of impact; day-to-day activities will be randomly reactive. Think of your Business Plan as an invitation to Spirit to co-create, guide, play and….shine on you.

Unfold Your Own Myth ~ Rumi

An oyster opens his mouth to swallow one drop.
Now there’s a pearl.

A vagrant wanders empty ruins
Suddenly he’s wealthy.

But don’t be satisfied with stories,
how things have gone with others.

Unfold your own myth,
without complicated explanation,
so everyone will understand the passage,
We have opened you.

Business is Not a Dirty Word

Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others, unfold your own myth ~ Rumi

When I am working with business owners, whether they are starting out or have been in business for a while, we explore attitudes regarding the word “business.”  Often times, whether conscious of it or not, most of us have some level of negativity about business.

This is certainly not surprising given the long history (in America particularly) of story-after-story-of-a-shocking-exposure-of “how business is done.” In addition, many of us are familiar with, and occasionally use, sayings that marry the word business with negative connotations ~check out the following from dictionary.com:

Give Someone the Business to make difficulties for someone; treat harshly, to scold severely; give a tongue-lashing to
Have No Business to have no right
Mean Business to propose to take action or be serious in intent; be in earnest
Mind One’s Own Business to refrain from meddling in the affairs of others
Do Your Business to defecate or urinate
Business is Business profit has precedence over personal considerations

These idioms surround us and are part of the cultural consciousness we operate in – yikes! If we take on aspects of a negative consciousness regarding business, it may be difficult to accept true power and prosperity from what we are building. It can be a simple exercise to uncover negative beliefs, including those we hold that are not really our own.

It is a business owner’s responsibility to recreate if necessary the business consciousness they wish to operate in themselves, as well as the consciousness they would like to envelope employees and customers with. It is a powerful thing to knowingly operate within existing consciousness while simultaneously impacting and awakening it.

Business is a vehicle that when driven properly can positively impact our immediate communities and beyond. The truth is that for each shocking-bad-business-story there are 100 positive ones……the truth is that business is not a dirty word and in fact is an inspiring one……and I do mean business about that.
