So we began and will never cease ~Rumi

I stood before a silk worm one day. And that night my heart said to me,

“I can do things like that, I can spin skies, I can be woven into love that can bring warmth to people; I can be soft against a crying face, I can be wings that lift, and

I can travel on my thousand feet throughout the earth, my sacks filled with the sacred.”

And I replied to my heart, ”Dear, can you really do all those things?”

And it just nodded “Yes”

in silence.

So we began and will never cease.

A Beautiful Walk Inside You ~ Rumi

Through this blood veil, the lover sees a beautiful walk

Reason says, There are only six directions: north, east, south, west, up, and down.

There is no way out of those limits.

Love says, But I have many times escaped.

Reason comes to a marketplace and begins haggling prices.

Love wanders away with other business to transact, something to do with incomparable beauty.

There are secret things happening.

Hallaj listens to whispers and walks off the speaker’s platform onto a scaffold.

Dreg-drinkers have love perceptions that reasonable men fiercely deny.

They say, we cannot go barefooted in that courtyard. There is nothing but thorns through there.

Love answers, The thorns are inside you.

Be silent, and pull what hurts out of your loving’s foot.

Then you will see gardens with secluded rose bowers, and they will all be inside you.

Shams is the sun obscured by this cloud of words.

Maybe he will burn the overcast off and let love clear and brighten.

Mighty-Ocean-in-the-Drop

The great poet Rumi said, “You are the mighty ocean in the drop”. A reverse from the usual phrasing of this imagery – often we’re told we’re “only a single drop in a mighty ocean”. What does it mean to be the ocean in the drop?

At its core, this line of poetry means that you, yourself, are a magnificent and powerful force. You have everything you need contained within you.

This is hard for some of us to believe.

To become a powerful force for good, many people believe they need outside influences to make them better. They need to learn from a great teacher, for instance, or they need to pile up the accolades and accomplishments so that others take them seriously.

Not so. The ocean within you inherently swells with immense power.

You have everything you need and are capable of achieving everything you have hoped. The key is acknowledging and loving this simple truth: then you are authentically loving yourself and can project this love out into the world.

You are the center of a powerful creation, and as such you have a responsibility to honor the ocean within you and bring it to the forefront of everything you do – especially your business. Your business may be the best tool you have to influence the world – and yet, if you do not acknowledge that you have that source within you, that tool could go to waste.

You owe it to yourself and all you will influence to honor the ocean within you – and learn what it is you are truly capable of accomplishing.

When You Feel a Peaceful Joy You’re Near the Truth

Originally uploaded by AnnuskA – AnnA Theodora

Evolving business planning concepts teach us to interweave joy and and deep attention.

You know what it feels like to be “in the flow” –-those times when your words and actions seem supported by creation –when for example, a specific person was needed, they would show up; when a certain set of circumstances was necessary for a project to go on, the pieces seemed to magically fall into place.  It could be said that in those moments, your Highest Self was guiding your actions to joyfully co-create with Spirit.

You have also probably experienced what it feels like when you are not in the flow, when you have wandered off your path and joy seems replaced by struggle. In those times, things do not move easily; the “wick won’t light”.

What can bring you back to your path is consciously tuning in —repeatedly reawakening to peace and your Higher Self. In the space of joyful awakening there is access to deep knowledge of what to create, speak, release, and leverage in the moment and for the future of your business.

“When you feel
a peaceful joy, you’re near the truth. Unquiet and
off center, jealous or

greedy, what you do seems pretentious and those around
you insincere. Speak

the clearest truth you know, and let the dis-ease heal.
If words are tinged with

lying, they’re like water dripping into an oil lamp. The
wick won’t light, and

the pleasure and rest of your love room will diminish.” ~Rumi

Some Kiss We Want ~ Rumi

Originally uploaded by LukeOlsen

There is some kiss we want with our whole lives, the touch of spirit on the body. Seawater

begs the pearl to break its shell. And the lilly, how passionately it needs some wild darling! At

night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its face against mine. Breath into

me. Close the language-door and open the love-window. The moon won’t use the door, only the window.

Looking into the Creek ~ Rumi

Originally uploaded by wild prairie man

The way the soul is with the senses and the intellect is like a creek. When desire weeds

grow thick, intelligence can’t flow, and soul creatures stay hidden. But sometimes

the reasonable clarity runs so strong it sweeps the clogged stream open. No longer weeping

and frustrated, your being grows as powerful as your wantings were before, more so. Laughing

and satisfied, the masterful flow lets creations of the soul appear. You look

down, and…the gates made of light swing open. You see in.

Find the Real World ~ Rumi

Find the real world, give it endlessly away
Grow rich, fling gold to all who ask
Live at the empty heart of Paradox
I’ll dance there with you, cheek to cheek
Your Dawn in me I’m drunk, stammering
A thousand thousand words go dark
Lightnings are dark to us to this:
Identity’s boundless worlds-wide blaze.

We Are the Sun ~ Rumi

We are a warm spell that comes in a relentless winter.

We are the sun with all the different kinds of light.  We are wind.

Doves, when they all coo, where, are looking for us.

Nightingales and parrots change their perches hoping to be nearer to us.

Word of us reached the fish. They swerved and leapt.

Waves from that stirring keep coming in.

The soul has been given its own ears to hear things mind does not understand.

We have come out of slavery with bales of sugarcane.

The sweetness of how we talk together is what we crush and bring the world.

Disciplines ~ Rumi

The heart

Originally uploaded by Studioaiko ‘s Photo

Do not expect to be always happy on this way.
You have been caught by a lion, my dear.

The friend dumps plaster on your head.
Think of it as expensive perfume.

Inside you there is a monster
that must be tied up and whipped.

Watch the man beating a rug.
He is not mad at it.
He wants to loosen the layers of dirt.

Ego accumulations are not loosened
with one swat. Continual work
is necessary, disciplines.

In dreams, and even awake,
you will hear the beloved screaming at you.

A carpenter saws and chisels a piece of wood,
because he knows how he wants to use it.

Curing a hide, the tanner
rubs in acid and all manner of filth.
This makes a beautiful soft leather.

What does the half-finished hide know?
Every hard thing that happens
works on you like that.

Hurry. Come back
like the sun comes back
every day with new and powerful secrets.
